05 12GS Problem with spark not firing.

Anyone suffered a problem with not being able to get all 4 plugs to fire? Bike is shaking herself to bits - have changed the plugs and checked the fault codes to no avail.

Any advice appreciated

Are you sure it's not coils or TPS sensor? Symptoms for latter are wont start unless on part throttle, wont idle off throttle, feels like bike going to explode. If it will start and just is misfiring coils?

Its the "Throttle Position Sensor" which tells the fuel injection how far the throttle is open. It is a small electronic potentiometer fitted to the left hand throttle body.

(Basically the small black plastic part with a wiring plug on it in front of your left toes on the side of the left hand intake. )

If you had the battery disconnected, then after turning on ignition, but before pushing the startbotton, you give it full throttle three times to allow the system to tell the TPS its present position. An advise given in many manuals.

And they can also fail, so wont reset.
