Just contemplating uprating the bouncers on my GS, had a couple of bottom outs playing offroad plus have a 5 week trip in the summer planned with some offroad included..

WP, Wilburs etc? what are peoples opinions and experiences with regards to ease of fitting, effect on the bike etc?

I would guess you only need to uprate the springs, not the whole unit.

About £60 apparently, much cheaper fix than a full Ohlins/Wilbers jobbie.

Settled on Hyperpro progressives from Calsport Birmingham, 150 quid if you mention this forum, sold as a kit, front and rear oil etc.... Massive transformation, highly recommended...

how much work was it to fit the rear spring or did you go for a replacement shock/spring.

cheers,

Andy

I just replaced the springs.

The rear compared to the front (which is easy peasy) is a bit more involved. You need to lift the rear subframe up to get access at the top bolts to remove the shock. Then i took it so some geezer to fit the spring as you need a compressor (charged 2 cans of marstens).

I gotta say its been fab, riding back last night some ass pulled out on me and im amazed at the difference in braking performance.. if i had the old springs and the old tkcs i woulda layed it down most probably.... As it happens i missed it by inches then had to resist the tempatation to kick his feckin wing mirror off! donkey!

heres a pic... Lifting the back end up to get at that elusive bolt.!!!
