'08 GSA running lean?

Compared to my old '54 plate 1200, my 08 GSA's exhaust note sounds louder. and on overrun the exhaust "pops".

I've tried "normal" unleaded and "super" unleaded but both fuels prodce the same "popping" as if the bike is running lean.

Is this "normal" or should I be getting my dealer to have another look at it? (I did mention the popping when the bike went in for its first service but nothing had changed when I got the bike back).

Both my 06 and 08 GSAs pop a bit on the overrun.
Isn't that caused by being a little rich rather than lean

Every 1200 I've ridden has done it. You can get the thing to pop on command. Accelerate hard then come off the gas completely, then just by adding the slightest throttle it'll pop. They must run rich at low throttles.

All the reports of lean running of 1200gs's have been a full throttle and this has been due to changes to exhaust + filter.
