For those thinking about getting a GS, all I can say is go for it.
I've had my GS for 10 days now and I couldn't be happier. Its a late '58 plate with all the bells and whistles.
I moved up from a Fazer 600 and I was a tad concerned about the commute into the centre of London that I do everyday due to its size but lordy I was wrong. It is just terrific. It burbles along the A3 and when we get to real traffic it is so well behaved and yet today I am taking the better half and luggage away for a ride and an overnight stay. The bike does everything. I was also worried about the running costs but so far it has cost the same in fuel as the 600 and it had little affect on my insurance.
I love her. I can now understand why people are so fanatical about the bike.
Can you tell how pleased I am?
