Am quickly finding my '93 GS is not all I'd hoped mechanically. So far
I've had a *very* floating front disc (replaced with new one), MPH
clocks reading the speed in MPH but clicking over the odometer in KPH!!
(awaiting replacement), a 10K service which turns out to have been an
oil and filter change and not much else (had subsequent full service
done) and I take back all my gripes about vibes as it was down to an
unserviced bike.
Latest and worst was coming to a juddering and fairly final halt on the
M25 (I had been 'making' progress in lane 3 of 4 at the time), a kindly
courier stopped and assisted with a bump but no electrics. As light
faded I was forced to put on lights just as I turned off the motorway
and the bike immediately ground to a halt. A friend came out and gave me
a 10 minute charge off his car battery enough to get me limped home with
sidelights (3 miles).
The strange thing is when a meter was put on the battery today it read
11.8 volts!!! This was before we charged it. The fluid levels in the
battery were very low but I an my chum expected to find a flat
battery??? How comes? - What new BMW specific thing have I discovered
here that all your airhead Gs'ers no about.
Please help as somehow I've got to get this thing back to Northampton to
get sorted under the given warranty and I am short on options, answers
on a postcard if you will...
Yours in hopefulness,
Andy
