100/55w Bulb on a 98 R1100GS

Anyone tried this?, will it crack the lense?.

I'm fitting FF50's and light bar etc soon, all the extra light will make it safer for night time riding.

Any comments please.

Gary - i put a 100/80 in my RED '98 1100 a year ago - no worries.

Bit more light - not bad

added Hella's on a light bar for that main beam little extra as well.

trouble is - switching to dip is a bit worrying at full speed ahead.

I've run a 100w bulb in my 1100GS since summer. No problems at all. Makes a huge difference at night, but tends to upset some car drivers. Which is nice.

80/100W

I have the same in my bike - a 1994 R1100GS. No problems at all and, yes, the light is much better at night. No cracked lenses or blown bulbs as yet - and I always leave my lights on by day so they have been on for many many hours without a glitch.

80/100w

Likewise I have an 80/100w bulb in my Honda, and intend to do the same mod on my '97 1100 if only I can figure out HOW TO GET THE BLOODY BULB OUT !!!

Re: 80/100w

Easy-peasy

Remove the three scews that secure your headlight lens at the front of the bike. The whole assembly pops out and you can access the bulb from there. Takes all of 5 minutes to complete.

Thanks for that Fergus, i've been looking at the back of the unit for inspiration !

Last gasp of a desperate man, read the instructions !!!

Headlight bulbs

Try some car spot lights from halfords only £20 odd quid.
ive got some fogs that work off the main beam
with a separate switch mounted on the clocks.

I USE 130/100 ON MY 95 WITH NO PROBLEM

Police in Shropshire are currently trying to explain why the paint on the rear of hundreds of local cars has been found peeling off.

Coupled with reports of blinding lights and melting tarmac, the local constabulary are hunting a low flying harrier jumpjet.....or a '95 R1100gs, although the latter has been rejected by local riders as frigging ridiculous

:D
