My mate was sitting in traffic thinking the car in front was making an awfull smell when he suddenly realised it was his bike. He jumped off the bike quick turned it off and pulled the seat off. The flasher relay was smoking. so a couple of questions........

He`s managed to pull the old relay from its multi connector but the connector on the loom is a mess. What can we do with this?

Why did this happen? surely if it was a dodgy relay the fuse should have blown first.

We try to sort our own stuff out as much as we can between us but we are by no means electicians. Any practical help on sorting this one out would be much appreciated.

Are you sure it isn`t the regulator/rectifier that has fried. That is exactly what happened earlier this week to the pup of an XTZ750 I have just bought. Smoke everywhere and the connector a molten mess.

Watch my lips ................. Indicator relay. :D

any way it looks like a relay to me. sits in the electrickery box next to the other relays and fuses. Indicators now dont work which also backs up my story ! It got that hot it melted the fuse box as well !

Lots of wiring under there. You might be lucky and only have one or two melted together, but it's going to be a headache whatever you do.Just make sure everything is alright before you put the battery back on.

Start looking for a new loom as well,as something is wrong there.

Good luck:thumb2

Thanks Vern.

Gonna have a look today to see how far the heat damage went.

Still cant way up why the relay got so hot it melted. surely thats why they put fuses in the circuit ...... :nenau
