I've a Givi alloy rack on the standard rack, which weight, well, not much.

I'm planning on using a 60lts roll back with this for camping - tent, tarp, rug :) comes to 10Kg

Acceptable?

Yup, tarmac only, other than campsite! Though some of the Welsh roads I tend to use can give the suspension a workout!

It should be fine, however, it depends what it is like now. They do fracture over time if they have been stressed. Mine went out of the blue with very litte weight on it. Wunderlich used to do a support for it I recall.

I devised a very discreet solution :D

If you don't need the pillion seat take that and the grab rail off and you have a long flat area which will take more weight than the rack alone.

I have been told that the Grab handle actually strengthens that rear rack, so I left mine in place.

Also, they are often cracked, from LIFTING the bike from back there, not just the weight of the load carried.

mine was cracked, I welded up a simple reinforcement from garage scrap and now I have ZERO worries about whatever wish to carry back there.

Haven't got the 1100, mines the 1150 ADV, but I take a 100ltr Lomo bag which weighs in at 17kgs plus the two alloy panniers and the other half. Done about 30'000 with that setup and no problems as of yet.
