Hi folks

Im thinking of getting a 1200gs next year.
Ive got a 1100gs at the mo sound bike or will be once ive
sorted out the noise on the gear box.
Any is the 1200 as tough as the older bikes cause i intend
to ride it every day in all weather on all terrain.
Should i do it or should i stick with the one ive got.

stevie

Stick with what you've got :thumb very handy for towing 1200's :D

1100 everytime, better quality and any niggles should already have been sorted :thumb

I dont know anything about the 1100 but I reckon you should buy a 1200.

Just cos no one else think you should :)

PS. The 1200 must be better cause its a bigger number.

Don't believe the tripe!

Can't say - never taken mine off "road" due to it's alledgedly fragile alloy wheels... ;)

Only change if you want a faster, lighter, more powerful, better handling, more fuel efficient bike

1200 vs 1100

Try them both - I cannot imagine that you will not be enormously impressed (as I am every day) by the progress in the ten years between these two. It is simply a question of now much you want to spend ! I have not experienced ANY reliability problems in a year with the 1200. Brian

I've a 1200 - 16000 miles - all weathers every day all surfaces inc Ridgeway - alloy wheels - Tourances.

Only probs - immobiliser failed to recognise key - new immobiliser required.

And serious corrosion - rocker cover - cylinder head - timing chain cover - diff.

Seat is split from vigorous rubbing against inner thighs.

All probs have been or will be resolved by BMW inc new parts to replace corroded parts.

Inner thigh problem outstanding...any ideas?

I love it - fast as feck and v. nimble and does everything and looks the boll**ks in red as long as you change to clear indicator lenses from NN.

Look even puddles stop a 1200....

he's waitin' for a tow :D

and you have to strap your top box on :D

We were waiting for the 1100s to catch up!!! :D :D :D :D ....Honest!

When I went to Garmisch this year, I was absolutely desperate to take the 1200 GS out for a test ride, I was really looking forward to it, and was expecting to be blown away by it.........unfortunately I wasn't. I got back on to my 1100 and thought; this will do for me for a couple more years.
Cheers,
Andy

i did the same the 1200 just lacked something :(

it is faster.. but to me the engine hasn't the same sort of grunt that you get from an 1100..the power delivery on the 12 is getting more like a road bike than a big trailie
the 1200 is a great bike.. but it seems to have lost the big trail bike feel..to some this may be a good thing but to me it's a bad thing :(

the lack of a good exhaust note even with a remus fitted :(
