1100GS. Drain the tank.

Do you mean with the tank still fitted to the bike ??

If so,apart from leaving it parked in Birkenhead overnight,I imagine disconnecting the injector feed pipe and running the pump would be a fairly quick way.

Or the traditional 'length of hose and a gobful of unleaded' method.

Err.....sudden thought.....you`re not trying to get DIESEL out of it are ya ??

:D :D

With the tank off, remove the pump assembly...though it still takes a while to fully empty it,due to the tank`s shape and the internal baffling.

Tarka
I will take the tank off.
If I take the pump asssembly off will it go straight back on or will I have problems with the O-Ring?

Tank has a lot of water in it so that is why I am draining it, big ride up to northern Denmark for a "Traef" and some sand busting.

I got my original 'O' ring back on fine, with no problem.

Sometimes they expand quite a bit....I think the trick is to pop it in the fridge for a bit....yer milk may taste a bit funny due to the fumes,though... :D

Clean the threads on the pump assembly mounting studs before removing the nuts....else a stud may shear....

If i had water in my tank i would not remove it..I would pump or syphon it out using a pipe through the filler cap...Then leave it out in the sun for a while with the filler cap open it will soon dry...I did this to remove the fuel from my bike and with a bit of moving the pipe around i got all but a drop out...It's easyer if you remove the filler cap..As for the o ring i put mine on the radiator and reused it no problem

Water in tank!!!
