Just a heads-up. I put new pads on the front of my 1100 last week. And afterwards decided to give the brake lines a really good check, as there is a thread over on the Airhead forum here, started by Steptoe, about the top brake line on the 1100gs popping under pressure. The one from the master cylinder to the frame. Anyway, strapped the lever to the handlebars with a bungee a couple of times and all seemed ok. Until I did it one more time and sure enough, my brake line burst. But not the top one; for me it was the one going from the splitter on the front mudguard to the left side caliper. It's a 98 bike, and the lines are original, and I'm bloody glad I tested them out at home in the workshop!
I've ordered Goodridge braided lines online and will swap out all 4 when they arrive, but if you have an 1100 on original lines I'd advise you to test them pretty soon.
