My luggage rack on my 1100GS snapped last week. I have found a welder who things he can fix it but I don't know how successful this will be. Does anyone have a spare that they don't need and would be willing to sell to me. My bike is in really nice condition so it would be nice to get one in reasonable nick. It's the alloy rack / frame that starts at the rear of the riders saddle and extends either side of the tool box and ends above the rear mudguard and supports the rear grab rail. I had a top box fitted to mine and think the movement caused by the lovely well maintained potholed roads combined with the topbox caused movement and there's no flex in the alloy rack so it snapped. Trying to avoid buying a new one.
Cheers

Common enough problem, which leads to a scarcity of the part  You could try Bemer Bike in Woodford who break older BM's but if your welder can fix it get him to fab up a reinforcing kit at the same time. Wunderlich used to do one but they are like hens teeth now; basically a U frame anchored in the rear pannier rail mount that runs out and under the rearmost rail of the original frame.

Does anyone know if this is the same as the early 1150 rear ali part? If yes, i have one i can sell

I believe it is the same part. I'll try to find out. I'll PM you.

I love this site. Just been offered this part for free from a very kind chap from Hatfield. Just arranging pick up times. Thanks again to kind folk who are happy to help others, thankfully there are lots of them on this site. 👍
