Our 2000 GS1100's ABS is nolonger calibrating, even after a long run. The two red lights on the dash continue to flash alternately. We've tried:

1. Checked distance between sensor and disk = Adjusted
2. Checked battery voltage = Replaced

Can anyone comment on whether the damage found on the front sensor could be the cause?

Try earthing the center wire (brown) of the diagnostic plug to the battery earth. Then turning on the ignition and press and hold down the ABS button for about 10 seconds.
Turn off the ignition and see if your abs lights flash together. If they do take it for a short ride and see if the abs lights turn off.

I had a similar problem with my 2002 11850GS three days ago, and was fortunate enough to rear dthis thread. I had tried cleaning the electrical connections and wheel sensors without success. I made use of the link to the ABS warning light reset page involving shorting pins 2 and 4 and it worked a treat, the ABS has now reset and is working fine !! This has no doubt saved me a few pounds booking the bike into BMW.
Thanks !
