First of all "Hi to all",

I collected my first GS last week, a 1995 1100 with 42k miles, loads of work done to in inc a clutch etc: etc:, and the best bit is the paint is not falling off all over the place, a friend who has a 1150GS said "it's mint" :D

Anyway, I would like to know what's best to set the suspension too ? Hard ? Soft ? What's the preferance ? I'm not really a setup guru but it feels like the front is too hard and the back too soft, I'l happy to set it whatever seems the most popular and go from there ?

All help reveived with thanks :thumb

Peter

I think standard is on 2 notches from the lowest front and setting as standard as shown on the remote adjuster :thumb2 Try from there for personal preference

I would like to know what's best to set the suspension too.

Depends on a few things Peter, how much do you weigh, do you carry a pillion often, have you got panniers and top box permanantly fitted and filled with stuff ?

I'm an average weight :augie 1100 rider, never carry pillions but have a pair of Zega panniers on, normally half filled with shopping and other junk.

Front is two from the bottom and the rear is wound right up to high. I find it just right for me. I have never bothered with the small rebound adjustment.

Is your rear shock good ? We recently changed my sons 1100 as it was well shagged.

Give us a shout if you need anymore help. You can't be that far away.

HI Noddy,

I'm about 13st, don't carry a pillion, no topbox or panniers, and I've no idea if the rear shock is knackered or not, I'm also not far from you as I'm in Sudbury. Best I look for a C spanner and start playing

For the front is two from the bottom meaning the spring is one away from being most compressed or one away from being most relaxed ? As for the rear it looks like the small rebound adjustment is ceized anyway !
