So I have a set of Touratech engine bars to put on the 1100GS. From looking at it the bars bolt below the bash plate and it seems I'd have to remove the bars to do an oil change.
I was thinking - can I remove the bash plate altogether and mount the bars between the inner (steel) bashplate and the sump? Then leave the outer one off altogether or get something made up in ally.
Presume I'll have to use a few washers/spacers so the bars marry up the upper bolts with the frame?
Basically I want to mount the bars to the bike, allow easy access for an oil change but still offer a little protection to the oil plug and filter. I understand that if I don't go off road I don't really need the steel plate but I prefer to keep it on if I could.
