Has anyone toured with more than the recomended 10kgs per side and two up? (BMW Ali panniers)

I'd imagine every person who's ever gone away with them fitted.

Hi

Many times you just have to make sure the weight is evenly distributed and don't stop too often as it gets a bit difficult getting on and off.

In Feb I went to Ireland with the Mrs and did not have much of a problem. You just have to adjust the suspension and make sure the tyre is adequately inflated which for the load you will be carrying.

Just be careful if the trip is on motorways as the tyre seems to flatten off with all that weight.

The BMW panniers are irrelevant as far as the weight limit goes.......the limit is set for the strength of the rear subframe that they attach to....the panniers themselves will take 100kg or more before their arses fall out.

So yes, as Steptoe says, I'd guess anyone who has toured two up will have exceeded that weight by rather a long way :beerjug:

Bloody hell Fanum  That's what I wanted to see, makes me feel more at ease now. By the way, what do you use in place of this:
