The most I've had was 270 taking it easy. Mostly about 220-230 before I need to fil up. Five bars normally, with six in traffic etc.

You should be looking at 10/11 miles per litre at reasonably legal speeds and with a bit of mechanical sympathy. My fuel consumption improved noticeably after i ditched the cat and fitted a "Y" piece.
For in town filtering, remember that your bar ends are at the same height as the sticky out mirrors on MPVs,vans and 4x4.
With normal tin boxes, their mirrors go between your cylinder head and bar-end.:thumb2
The important rule is...just dont hit anything.:D

Fuel consumption.

When the "idiot" light comes on you will find that there is still a lot of fuel remaining in the tank, in fact I have had many "frights" when this has come on but always made it to the next fuel stop. If you have a topbox etc put a spare can of fuel in the back and when the light comes on note the speedo reading and run it till it starts to splutter (not on a motorway) note the reading and then you will be re-assured. Consumption varies widely and all depends on your right hand!. We have noticed that T.T panniers fitted has a detrimental affect on fuel consumption,( almost the size of air brakes on jet fighters!). I recently had a long run with a lower ratio bevel box fitted (courtesy of Mr S.) and fuel consumption with TT's fitted improved, not such a pull in sixth( high) gear I guess. So, dont panic when the light comes on, do the consumption test an it will put your mind at rest. When I first had my 1100 RT I went to Glen Coe on the way it was 95-100 all the way (where possible ) and it was about 35 to the gallon (approx). went to the Blackpool rally and did not exceed 70 and achieved over 50. So keep your right hand in order when the light comes on many of us have ridden our bikes through hot climes Morocco etc and no problems with over heating (with the bike anyway!). Good luck and just barge the bas.... out the way when filtering
you've now got a two wheeled hummer.

When fuel is getting real low you'll hear the fuel pump whining under no braking. At that point about 10 mile left on std tank.

If you should ever run out. Tip the bike over onto it's right side. You'll get another 10- 15 miles on a standard tank.

It even works on a 30 ltr tank with the side to side connecting pipe. But not quiet as much fuel, so a bit less mileage .

Blowzorn is the running out of fuel Jedi ,he's always doing it :D he ran out going through spain last year and tipped his ADV on it's side to get to a petrol station. He'll be able to tell you how far you can get using this method on an ADV
