Whilst passing a couple of hours today and chewing the cud with the technicians in my local dealership they mentioned that theyve had a few of these recently. Read on!

If the ABS warning light comes on and you have an 1150 check the handguard! I kid not! They've had several cases where the right hand guard is just touching the brake lever and causes the switch to accuate and spin the servo - the bike thinks the brakes are on continually and puts up a warning light eventually. Could save you a trip to the dealer and a red face!

On the 1200 they've had similar cases but on the other side. 'The bike won't pull properly' is usually the query and when looked into it's because the clutch lever is fowling the left hand guard and slipping the clutch continually!! I've seen this one on a day out recently and the rider and his pillion had to go back to the dealer and meet up with us later - egg on face and many sniggers!

Hope this info. stops someone being embarrassed

Ditto with the rear brake switch.

Yeah ,happened to me on both brake and clutch on my 1200.Nearly sent it back to the dealers for the clutch to be sorted and scared myself s*$%less when doing 40 mph towards a junction and no servo brakes.Problem is now im always pushing both levers forward to check they have enough room between the handguards .

I'd definitely take my bike back to the dealer if my handguard was triggering the rear brake switch....;)
