1150 Front Seat

I am a UKGSer virgin so be gentle with me
I have only just bought mine, a V plate 1150gs and I have discovered that the previous owner had the seat lowered by having the foam pad cut down. I am somewhat taller than him and also I find it a bit hard due to the lack of foam, any suggestions?

Whats melvined? a new front seat is 150 quid, I have already checked.
