I've been offerred a ali topbox and mounting plate from an 1150 adventurer. I have a standered GS, with a samll rack at the back. Does anyone know if this will fit okay? Also they want £240, is it worth it?

Thanks in advance
Rob

Not sure if it will fit a GS, seems to use the lift up hoop on the back of the GSA. Having said that I havent tried one yet on my GSA as I'm on the lookout for one as well. As for price, well I was recently watching one sell on ebay, it went for £190 in the end.

The lift up hoop is part of the top box mounting plate, so if you get the top box and complete mounting plate, you're okay.

It's the rear racks that are different, but yes, you can fit a GSA top box onto a std GS by fitting the bolts through the front as on the Adventure frame (you remove the rear grabrail on the std GS and use those two holes), then use a piece of aluminium flat bar around 130mm long and bolting the rear rack by passing two bolts through the rack and bolting the rack to the flat bar.

The only downside is you lose the rear grabrail, but as you have a top box there, it shouldn't be a problem for a pillion.

Make sense?

Thanks

Yes, that seems to make sense. It would be easier that buying an adventure rack !

Thanks again

£240 for a topbox  Bloody 'ell that would make it worth more than anything I could put in it!
£60 for a 40 litre Kappa unit :thumb2 - plate fixes to the standard GS mini-rack once the grab rail is removed. Had it on for the past 15k miles and it's still there and working.
