Hopefully there will be someone with some knowledge of this:
A couple of years ago I used to have a 2003 1150GSA that was stuffed with additional accessories.
One of the most useful was a remote battery chrging terminal. This had a + positive terminal covered with a rubber bung on the starter motor plastic casing just in front of the accessory terminal, and the - negative was located on the back of the right hand pod just beneath the spark lead.

To charge the battery was oh so simple. Just remove the rubber bung on the positive and clip an Optomate onto the two terminals. None of this silly, 'lifting the tank lark' to get to the battery.
I though it was a BMW optional extra, but Cotswold Motorrad have no knowledge of such a thing.

Is there anyone else who has one fitted, or knows where I can purchase one for my present 1150GSA.

I think the terminals you are talking about were used for jump starting the bike.
Most people use the power socket for charging which is much easier. Either get a plug and put it in the end of your charger or you can buy one already made that plugs into chargers like the Optimate.

If you still want to fit one you can buy the bits, you might find this helpful http://edelweiss.smugmug.com/Motorc...Battery/7188593_dtGTzv#!i=461591111&k=XwcHprm

Yes, but why do away with the option of a jump start point as well?
Optimate leads come with a pair of crocodile clips anyway and it saves having to take the starter cover off to jump it.:beerjug:

The original post was for a charging point not jump start.

Never needed a Jump start on my bikes for the last 30+ years though MIGHT come in useful. As such a rare thing it would not bother me to take off the cover or get access to the battery should such an occasion occur, you need to take it off to fit the terminal.
New plug is bundles cheaper than the jump kit, my optimate came with the BMW plug.
Plug post free is £2.99 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/12v-24v-M...270?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item565839bc7e
It enables me connection to charge all my bikes quicky, even fitted a power socket to my Velocette and can use on that too.

No, the original post was for a jump start point which he wanted to use as a charging point:D

Hey thats great.
Thanks to all of you.
I originally wanted it for charging the battery, but being able to use it for a jump start is a bonus. Hopefully if I use it for the former, I won't need it for the latter.

Wunderlich did them (almost certainly still do)

ISTR they were in the region of 15 quid :nenau

They were fitted as standard to the later 1150's, a lot of folks retro fitted them to their earlier bikes.

You can use the starter motore terminal for charging and jump starting. It's what the remote post/terminal attaches to :D

Just remove the single bolt that holds the starter motor cover on and bobs your uncle, saves all the tank lifting bollox. .

Already said that post #4 but you gave the Clymer manual version:D
