As my GS is at the dealers now the first thing I wsh to do is replace the stock headlight bulbs with PIAA's since I don't have the bike until 02-09-02 can anyone tell me what type the bulbs are, H1, H7 or what ??
Thanks in anticipation.

Both H1's, but I wouldn't bother with PIAA's, they don't last long and are V' Expensive.

I buy my bulbs from powerbulbs.com everything you'd want and quick delivery.

I have phillips 100w Rallye bulb in main beam (nearly a year now) and Philiips blue vision in headlight. much improved over stock but it's a nother world when the auxilliary PIAA 1100x's kick in.

Thanks

Many Thanks Captain, I wondered if the switch and wiring would stand a 100w, clearly it can.
Cheers

I've been unimpressed by the lights on my Adventure from day 1. I've cured the Main Beam problem by fitting a pair of 55w spots via a relay to the 55w main beam. The dip, however, is still crap. To try and fix the problem I fitted a 100w bulb in the dipped light. This works fine, but the bulbs only seem to last 2-3 weeks.....

I've come to the conclusion that the only way to use the lights economically is to use the Adventure Fog Lights as my 'daytime notice' lights, with sidelights selected, and then use dip after dark. This should minimise the amount of time the 100w is on for & therefore increase its life - unless you know different.

Why are these bulbs blowing so often, am I doing something wrong? Any advice gratefully received....

The lights are crap on the 1150GS, but before going the route of more expensive bulbs etc. just check the headlight alignment. IT now its obvious and you might already have done this, but many people haven't/don't . . . and it makes a big difference (even though they just end up less crap, but crap none-the-less.

The adjuster sits behind the cowling on the left hand side. Pull the lever to horizontal and play with the fine tune adjuster. Go to a very dark but level unlit lane one night and fiddle with the adjuster to get the beam to throw further up the road. It helps. They seem to come from the factory with the beam set to point about 6 feet in front of the bike. This is often not sorted at the PDI.

Might help.
