No nasty surprises in doing this are there?
Never done it on the GS before. Assume it's the same, undo, clean sealing face, oil seal on new one, screw back on.

Sorry to not sound too helpful, but as per a previous posting asking the same question about a 1200 oil change, you should equip yourself with the relevent manual and read it through....then ensure you have the correct tools and parts before doing ANY job.

Don`t attempt anything on a question by question basis.

I have got the manual, :) must admit not read this bit yet, :eek just thought I'd try to get ahead of the game. :clap

the man wants to do an oil change, he's not attempting brain surgery. :nenau

can't speak for the 1200, but if you know how to do an oil change, then the 1150 will not give any surprises. I suspect the 1200 is the same.

There's a thread somewhere on the board from someone who attempted to removed the oil filter without the proper tool, used a screwdriver and left half the olf filter where had wanted to put the new one!

Do not underestimate the opportunities for an inexperienced to feck it up!

OK fellow tossers. Piece of info. for YOU.
The correct oil filter tool is 76AF x 14 flats, this is assuming that all BMW oil filters are the same as the one supplied to be by Harolds father.

FFS all i asked for was to find out if there were any hidden nasties.

The grumpy cnut forum is found elsewhere.

So what is a Yamaha chappy? Or is it a generic statement for someone who owns several of the species?

Hidden nasties ??

Oh yes indeedy.....as I found out to my peril ( and the humour of GSers across the world ) just prior to my Stella Alpina trip last year.......

When you`ve done the oil change....and test run the engine....and are then struggling to refit the two bashplates (on the 1100 anyway...sometimes they don`t want to play ).......and move your head a bit to see if the rear mounting studs are aligned with the holes......DON`T TOUCH THE HOT EXHAUST PIPE WITH YOUR FOREHEAD

If you do,you`ll hear SHHHHHHHHHH and see a cloud of white bacon scented smoke.............and have to wear an embarrassing plaster for two weeks :o :o :o

see see I told you there was some tip!!

Tark, you forgot to add that
Calm down,like....calm down..............
must be said in a Liverpudlian accent. Permed hair and moustache are optional extras. :ymca
