Can anyone point me in the direction of some English-language fitting instructions for Touratech's oil cooler guard for the R1150GS?

The cooler guard came with German instructions and poor quality b&w photos and neither of us can make any sense of them at all. It would appear that we need to remove the beak to fit the guard, but as to how ... ?

I've attached the instructions so as to be clear which part I have. I notice they mention the 1150 GSA, so am now wondering whether the oil cooler guard will fit my 2002 GS. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I don't think you do need to remove the beak......ISTR fitting one by taking the screen off, then taking the silver instrument binnacle cover off and wiggling it into place

I put some masking tape around the edges of any sharp corners so I didn't scratch the paintwork I think......It's a long time ago though

I think you need to remove the plastic bit around the lights too, but yes it can be done without removing the beak (highly recommended cause it's an arse to remove).

Thanks to you both, the oil cooler guard is now installed. Yay!

For future reference, in case anyone else finds themselves in the same position, it is not necessary to remove the beak, but you do need to move it forward so that the plastic lip underneath clears the frame - allowing access to the bottom of the oil cooler. We removed the screen, silver instrument thingame and headlight surround, and removed the six small torx bolts that secure the fairing to the frame. The beak still would not budge, so I undid the nuts that secure the indicators and clipped the zip ties that fasten the electrics to the frame - thus giving us enough play to ease the beak forward by about 2 cm - just enough to push the oil cooler guard into place from underneath.

Per the instructions above, I had fixed the supplied foam strip to the bottom lip and two top corners of the guard, but these prevented it fitting correctly, so I removed them and the guard clipped neatly around the oil cooler. Pushing the beak back into its correct position and refastening everything was a bit of a fiddle, but we succeeded.

The instructions are absolutely no bloody use whatsoever ...

Here is the cooler guard mid-fitting and finished. Many thanks again. :thumb
