The weatherman promised a fine dry day,i had another pass for the day,and i washed the bike down after yesterdays rain drenched 80 mls.
Unfortunately the weatherman was wrong, the day set off ok, but did not take long to deteriorate into a typical late autum dreary day.
Anyway four of us set off at 10am,we ended up doing 170mls over varying roads and conditions,
30mls fast sweeping A roads-Dry.
30mls fast sweeping A roads-Wet.
60mls Narrow Tight Twisty Undulateing A roads(North york moors)Very wet occasional mud lots of pine needles.
50mls Very narrow twisty B roads very wet, very muddy in places and covered in leaves. ( and we do this for fun)
These were all roads i have done many times over the years and many times on my 1150.
So how did the 1200 compare. To be honest when it comes to these types of varying conditions it did not compare at all to the 1150gsa.
It really was streets ahead in every way.
The 1200 felt very surefooted in some very poor conditions.
It was nimble and easy to handle.
Even running in,overtaking was a breeze compared to the 1150.
Much less tireing to ride,i didn't feel as though i had to fight the bike at all, which i often did with the 1150.
After my recent op i don't think i could have ridden the 1150 in those conditions for 150mls today.
So after two days,i don't dispute that some folks prefer the 1150,but find it hard to understand how they could say it's a better bike.
Early days yet but i'm thinking i could well be a 1200 convert.
Will keep you posted on my developing opinion, but will not turn it into slagging off another great bike ,which the 1150 clearly was in it's time and for some still is and always will be.(me included)
