Hi

I am looking at removing the gearbox to replace the bearings.

having looked through the oil head maint manual downloaded through a link from a thread on here, it talks about stripping the bevel housing off the swing arm as one of the first steps,

do you really have to strip this or will the swing arm separate from the gearbox leaving all the wheel end complete?

it also talks about heating the bearing studs to release the loctite do you really have to do this or will they undo with a bit of force?

what are your experiences?

must be becoming an old woman as i'm geting older, there was a time when a manual wouldnt have been considered now i'm asking all these questions. hmm

The swing arm will come off as one piece, a bit unwieldy, so you'll need an extra bod to assist you as you don't want to go bending any rods and guides as you take it off and put it back on.
If it's the trunion bolts, you can get away without heating them, though it would be best if you did.
