I have an 03 twin spark 1150 ADV. For a couple of weeks now I am experiencing intermittent engine stalling when the engine returns to idle. ie. when pulling up to a junction or coming to a stop generally. Its as if the engine has "forgotten" to idle. Whilst the problem is not occurring all the time I have an EU trip scheduled in a few weeks and suspect this stalling is a pre curser to something more serious. Therefore I would like to get to the bottom of it beforehand if possible. Any relevant suggestions and experienced based advice welcomed. Thanks.

When my 1100 had a spell of that I found a dry solder joint on my ignition switch.

Could be the main coil caps ( main plug caps with a built in coil) - common problem.

To test pull the lower secondary plug cap off the spark plug on both sides and check if the bike fires up and runs ok on just the main plugs. If one side isn't running reconnect the lower on that side confrim.

Thanks

Thanks for the responses. Very much appreciated. I have removed the tank and disconnected, electricl maintenance sprayed each connector and reconnected. Doine the same with all the ECU sensors, just in case of a loose connection. The bike is 7 years old. I have checked the "coil plugs" and done Steptoes test. Everything seems OK. I will take on board the advice and keep an eye on things. Thanks again. Mark

if your idle was set too low couldn't that cause your problem ? I did this on my first GS by accident and caused similar problems as you've described, I set the idle a bit higher problem solved ?
