Hello,

I know I am rehashing old stuff, but I have read and reread the posts on converting to cast wheels and would like ask for some clarification.

1. Would front and rear wheels R1150R wheels from a 2003 Rockster with integral brakes work? A BMW master tech in saying not.

2. Would a K12RS 5.5 wheel work? Based on what I have read, it looks like it would if I get the R1150RT disc carrier. If this is the case, will my R1150GS rotor work?

Thanks in advance for your help!!

Yes to all....Except not sure about rear disc carrier off the 1150RT. It will deffo work with the 1100RT carrier...That's what I'm using..

BWM Master Tech....

What's the difference to your non-master Tech...?...

Thanks for the quick reply Cool Carbon,

While the wheels will fit, the tech is saying that on a bike with integeral brakes, the rotors from my bike will not work. Is that correct? Thanks CC.

Depends on what you're calling integral brakes....

We seem to be separated by a common language here...:P

Rotor=Discs...I presume...if correct, then they do fit straight on.

I've had the K1200RS wheels fitted to two Bikes...

The first being a 2000 model with ABS but no servo assistance..

Then fitted them to my present bike 2002 with ABS and Servo assistance/Linked Brakes...

The only thing I swapped off the new Bike were the ABS pickup rings.... from the pressed steel ones on the 2002 bike to the alloy ones off the earlier bike, the pressed steel ones seemed to be fouling the Brake Callipers on the front wheel......

I doubt if your 'Master Tech' spends a lot of time looking at or testing the countless different permutations possible with wheel fitments etc.

Vince. I have just converted my GSA (abs servo) using a 5 1/2" K1200 rs back wheel with no problems. You will need the following to make it fit. These are all part numbers from those nice people at motorworks:
AAA00010748 REAR DISK/CARRIER R1100RT
AAA00010749 ABS RING REAR R1100RT(you may be able to use your original one)
AAA00010750 M5 X16 BOLT FOR ABS RING
BRA 51986 MOUNT BOLT X2 (MOUNTS THE CARRIER TO THE FINAL DRIVE)
WHA33225 BOLT 55MM X4
Hope that helps.
Enjoy!!!!!
