Yes, yes ! I know its yesterday's bike to some of you, but I still love that quirky old oddity that is my 1150 GSA :rob . Apart from the bufferting that is!

I have searched the forums, but cant find the answer to the question.
1. Can you fit screen winglets (ala N.N) to the 1150GSA, without significant modification?
2. Would it improve the bufferting? :nenau It seems to me that a lot of turberlent air comes around the sides of the screen, and this is even worst with tank bag on.

Ive tried torbinators, and an MRA screen, but this summers run down to Reims & Verdun, still left my ears ringing.

Come on I cant believe that someone else hasnt been having the same dark & secret thoughts thoughts about GS 1200 components (Obviously not ones about the final drive! :D ) Come on, get out of that closet, and tell us.!

I have to confess to the same thoughts but for slightly different reasons.

I don't have problems with buffetting but do find in winter that the air passing down the side of the tank seems to be the only real source of a chill in me old bones.

The angle of the 1200 beak at that point is different to the 1150 but not massively so.

I've wondered if some heat might allow the angle of the deflectors to be altered to suit the 1150.

Before lashing out on the BMW or NN ones, I will get around to mocking-up something using my old favourite the B&Q 98p paint roller-tray just to see if deflecting the air-flow makes any real world difference.

Has anyone to fit them tried since this post?

I'm still toying with the idea but too many other 'projects' keep getting in the way.

I had a close look at the difference in the profile of the section of the beak where they fit on the 1200 v the 1150, it isn't a massive difference except that the kink in the 1150 is more of an angle. The 1200 is curved more gently.

If it was the other way around I think that altering the 1200 items would be more difficult because the perspex should be easier to curve more than it would be to try and flatten it out.

The thing that puts me off the most is that there's no telling that they will actually do any good on an 1150 because the main screen (even on an Adventure) doesn't extend to the side of the headlamp as much as it does on the 1200.

There are some after-market clear sections for the 1150 but these are much larger and mount on the forward edge of the tank.

I have to say that it's the one area of my Adventure that seems weak in terms of weather protection. I seem to get a cold draft on my hips, in all respects the protection is far better than an unfaired bike has any right to be.

My new Aerostitch tank panniers do the job of stopping the wind getting to my hips but I obviously don't have them on all the time.

I havent done anything with it either, I was hoping that someone from the site might have a go before I throw more money at it.:nenau

There was a post on the AdvRider site, where a chap had made his own winglets out of clear polycarbonate. He seemed quite pleased but I havent revisited the site to see if anyone has retro fitted 1200 versions.

Anyway ive been a total tosser already, throwing all my money at the useless headlamp problem, helping to keep Her Hella in business!:tosser

Are these the same winglet thingies in the adverts, worn by loud shouty trendy wimin who drive small 4x4's and pour blue water all over their kitchen worktops.

Quite possibly! If I remember correctly I should be able to rollerskate after Ive bought some, so I might give them a go, cos Ive never very good at that previously b :D
