Has anyone tried O2 eliminators on the 1190?

Claims are it sorts out the weedy low speed fuelling and some claim it reduces the heat build-up under the seat - which is logical when you prevent an engine running mega weak.

Only problem is getting to the connector plugs which are buried under the tank somewhere.

I fitted a dongle thingy to my old GS which did a similar trick and made it much smoother at just off idle, and the remap on my S10 also massively improved the off idle cruise behaviour - you can pick them up for £20 off E-Bay so apart form the massive job to fit them it looks worth a try.

not tried them, and almost certainly never will as i can live with the standard fuelling, but i'm sure i read somewhere that it is possible to fit both dongles without removing the tank. might have imagined it though :D

Hilltop and be done with it :)

TBH I thought the fuelling was really good on mine. The re-map made it marginally better at low speed and did the usual to the mid range and top end. It didn't make any difference to the heat that I could tell so not sure a dongle is gonna make a difference? Wings panels made a big difference though and cutting out the 'cat' is supposed to help.

The remap won't alter the closed loop with the O2 sensors still in place, so up to 20% throttle and below 5,000rpm it will still be very lean.

I guess this is where the heat issue comes from, plodding along in traffic the bike will be running very weak (therefore generating a lot more engine heat) and not getting as much cooling air through the bike.

So far not had the heat problem, but got an upcoming trip towards the South of France so will see how I get on - must admit the fuelling itself is not too bad, only notice it is a bit naff when trying to hold a steady 30 - 40 mph with a slightly annoying stumble / surge - some claim this is improved with the eliminators. Might give them a go if I find the heat issue bothersome - for the price it is not a great loss if they make no difference.

Did the remap do much for power and "feel"?

Won't do anything for the heat, it will change the fueling though. I think it is only the back one that you can do without removing the tank.

I don't know enough about the remap to counter what you're saying and I'm certainly not getting into a 'Hilltop' type thread ;) .......but............here's a link to my write up on my experience including A/F ratios before and after the remap showing them altered in the low rev range after the remap.

Sweet, looks to really smooth out the graph, the problem is I now want a remap as your write up has shown me problems I never knew existed!

The graphs will be for Wide Open Throttle (WOT) which is easy to adjust (well easy for those that know what they are doing) , it is the pesky O2 Sensor controlled closed loop that causes all the problems (on all modern bikes, not just the KTM) and are often impossible to re-map with O2 sensors in play - in theory the O2 eliminator will fix this cheaply (or at least improve it significantly)

Agree, best not get into another Hilltop thread!

Got mine on order so I'll report back once fitted

Look forward to hearing how you get on. More interested in how much aggro it is to get to the damn things, especially as they will need to be removed each time it goes back to the dealer for anything.
