I need to install a Stiebal 139db horn and a set of spots. Both have relays and need a 12 volt supply obviously. I have the fuse box off and can see loads of wires going up into the current set of fuses. How do I tap into one of the 12 volt sorces here or even create a new source. ?

use the original horn supply, for the switch, and make a main supply from the battery , fused, of course

12 Volt

No, the Stiebel specifcally states I need to use the relay. Souldnt have to I suppose as its getting 12 volts from the original horn supply regardless When I use the original horn supply only the horn barely makes a noise.
Anyone fitted one of these Stiebel Nautalaus horns from Nippy's ?

How about the spotlights

use the original horn supply

exactly. and from what I've seen you dont really need to worry about the relay. unless you use the horn a LOT and keep it on for extended periods.

additional spots.. take the power direct from the battery and use either the side light. or dip or main beam to 'activate' it

tons of info and in true tosser style.. much of it conflicting about the nautilus horn and 'how to' on this site. Me? I gave up on the idea and took it back - fitted a 'magnum' a year ago now... and guess what. I have yet to use it in anger... or for any reason apart from the MOT test. but it does make the MOT tester jump - so thats a result I guess.

the Magnum is a straight swap with no messing and is 3x the volume of the oe.

:blast I think that's what Digger meant......use the relay, feed it to pin 86 from the horn supply and take the power to it through a fuse from the battery directly....

If you don't understand how to wire a relay, it's time to step away from the bike before you burn up your loom or do a bit of googling or use the search button on this very site.

Same with the spotlights......take the switched trigger (86) from the main beam supply but you have to have a switch in there as well for legal reasons.

There are several very good wiring diagrams for both spotlights and uprated horns here.

:)

Use origional horn wires. ffs, the relay is at the other end of the wires. You ARE connected to the relay just by swapping over horn.

Or is it still very close to paddys day:augie

I've fitted more than one Nautilus to 1150GSA's.

To cut to the chase (if you intend using the supplied relay):

The ones that I've fitted, I take power direct from the battery, via an in-line fuse (30 amp).

One wire from the horn switch (the green IIRC. The horn is 'hot' wired), then just follow the wiring instructions that come with the unit and connect the relay the way it says.

The only difficulties that I've found are where to put the relay if like me you have loads of other gubbins and the instructions give two methods of wiring, one for an earthed horn button and one for a live.

As can be seen (above) I squeezed the relay into a space and attached the fuse holder to it.

FFS, I did use the horn wires directly and it made hardly any noise.

You may have the wiring correct, but just not bolted the horn physically tight enough to the bike for it to work correctly. Normal horns need to be really well secured.....I'm not sure whether this applies to the Nautilus as to the Magnum (hence the reason I fitted the latter - far, far less hassle, and as loud as you need) :nenau

Horn

oh, ok then, FFS, dont ask in future if the answers being given dont suit what your doing!!!

FFS indeed.

The "FFS" was used in the context of a quote from a previous reply above in this tread just being repeated, it was not an arbitary offrensive remark on my behalf.

Relax, don't take things in isolation.

Horn

Sorted, it transpired that there was rust on the contacts on the horn, hence the very low noise. I gave them a good clean with IPA and Bobs you uncle.

Yours Sincernly
