1200 gs dip headlight bulb

Hello new kid in town be gentle !!! just replaced dipped bulb on my 04 gs1200, can i fit a upgraded bulb BMW says no will get to hot , independant BMW dealer says no problem!!i any feedback would be good, swopped from a Yamaha FJR 1300 to the GS 1200 it's a different animal but i'm lovin it, not impressed with the Vario top box can't fit my Shoei neotech lid in it lid is too tall !!! cheers Graham

Higher wattage bulbs have been known to discolour the reflector with the extra heat they produce.

Will your hat not fit in the top-box even with it expanded?

I have philips xtreme vision h7 bulbs in both my gsa and my audi a4, they are still rated at 55w so no problems there
but they give off a lot more light
They are more expensive at £32 a pair from eurocarparts but worthwhile

throw it in you may get some slight discolouration due to heat behind the bulb but hey,who can see it?my hids did this before ceramic became available but the increased light output is worth a little bit of heat.better that than mullering yourself as you drive over a deer.
