This is a Thread for future reference ..

I went to THREE BMW dealers to ask about the new style tank bags for my new 08 1200 GSA.

First question to Vines:
1. Does the Original 1200 GS tank bag fit the 2008 GSA.
Answer: NO, it will foul the steering lock

Same questions to NOG:
Answer: Yes it will fit fine

Second question to Vines:
2. Does the new SMALL size GS tank bag fit the 2008 GSA
Answer: There are no small size tank bag

Same question to NOG:
Answer: NO the profile of the underside of the bag is not made for the GSA

Is it just me or do you not think all that marketing hype about quality of the BMW product and experience is complete load of bollox?

"UNSTOPPABLE" .. should be .. "Come to a complete fecking stop and blank at your local BMW dealer"

So went to Bahnstormers and ask the above question. Because some one on here mentioned that you can get the new small size tank bag to fit with the old style velcro and zipper part. I persevered (fecking heck, imagine having to earn money from BMW???)

The most pragmatic and helpful response .. "should we go try it sir" .. did that and verified that although not 100% designed for the GSA, by using the velcro/zipper from the original bag .. it will fit.

So next step order the parts. The guy (Parts Manager) checked and ordered it for me .. bought the velcro bit as he had it in stock :thumb2

I asked that question of the NOG parts advisor .. he gave me two parts number, but thought the velcro bit was of the newer design. Which is a smaller velcro thing but with a hook to clip to the bottom of the tank panel. Actually the part number he gave me was for the OLD style velcro piece.

Why is there such a lack of training from BMW Bracknell to its dealer networks? Why the feck are we paying high prices for WalMart service levels (actually I think probably lower than Walmart)?
WITH THREE TANK BAGS FOR TWO MODELS .. it can't be that hard to test them all out? It doesn't really cost them much (BMW UK) to try out all permutations of fittings, and test ride them on their staff fleet? Maybe just jobsworth people :nenau

I am now on a mission to complain.

First port of call General Manager of BMW Motorrad UK. Let see if he cares or just throw my letter away.

Then up the food chain.

OH NEARLY FORGOT THE PART NUMBERS :D
