I'm new to the GSA having only have it about three weeks but did 400+ miles today in two 3.5hr runs through Welsh Mountains from Cheltenham to Anglesey and back at average of 4 degrees C (lowest 2 degrees) on very wet roads, hail at times, and it just makes the ride so easy, so comfortable, so sure-footed and you feel like you could ride for a lot longer. Welsh mountains looked great covered in snow and hands only got a tiny bit chilly but not cold enough to stop. And the ESA in comfy mode for motorway and norm for mountain twisties made a significant difference. I was not initially taken in by the GSA and questioned my decision but now I'm being drawn in by its ability to look after it's rider and entertain along the way. Cracking bike. Had such a great day. :D

Cant believe how much use mine has had during this winter, love it to bits.

Just wait till you find out how good they really are in proper winter

Looks like you have just slung it down the road in the first pic, judging by the cylinder head protector.

Rather you than me riding in snow and ice:eek:

Oh yes but that only came off after the third drop :D
But then having a Avon road tyre at the rear was not quiet the brightest choice for a winter rear tyre :blast
But I have hit black ice last year and managed to stay upright cause these things are just so brilliantly balanced :thumb2

Blobby, not sure what you've used to but Ive found the GS comes into its own on A roads with tighter/ slower corners or interesting B roads. Higher speed A roads are best left to a Sports bike. Well worth getting over to Europe for some real fun before you make any judgements on the bike. They are really good on the 'right' roads :beerjug:

I've changed from an 800GS and before that a CB1000R and do mainly day trips although have a week planned exploring the Highlands which is partly why I got the GSA as it's more comfortable on the longer sections. Certainly harder to throw around than the 800 but I'm getting the hang of it. It's one heavy bike though when you come to a standstill.

report back when all the cheap castings have developed a nice powder finish of corrosion

Well I hope not as I'm following FP's advice:
Use some ACF50 on your GSA and she'll be good as new come springtime aswell!:thumb
Always keep my bikes covered in the stuff and it seems to work really well and I've always ridden all year round never thinking twice about the salt apart from jet washing it off occasionally then applying more ACF50.

Hi ya....yes they are FANTASTIC bikes winter or summer or anything inbetween.
Last August had around 4 weeks in Souteast France, Switzerland, Germany and Holland covering almost 4000k miles.

Last weekend got back from east Germany (Chemnitz) where there was tons of snow and bitterly cold. Then it was bak to Oldenburg (nr Bremen) before going onto Haarlem (nr Amsterdam) before coming back to Plymouth via Breda, Antwerp and Dunkirk to Dover.

Running TKC80's as I knew weather would be bad in and around Chemnitz.

Did the trip on my GSA and she just purrrrrred.

Today it been peeing down this afternoon (sunday 29th) and went off roading......now my bike is shit high.....but she'll get power washed 2morro

Enjoy your GSA and am glad you love riding in Wales....so do I.

ENJOY:beerjug:

I know what you mean about how goo dthey are, this is my first winter on mine too and me and my mate went out on saturday for a quick blast round Guersney, now he was on his B King so by the time we had done the island and stopped for a coffee he was blue ha ha, i got off all toasty and warm, he did laugh at me when I first bought the bike but soon realised how good they are when i said the big screen kept the cold wind off me, the heated grips kept my hands toasty and the heat from the exhaust warmed my feet no end.

Oh how i had the last laugh
