Hi, has anyone notice that the rear rim of the GS 1200 Adv
is not turning rightly ?
What I mean is when the bike is on central stand and 1st gear is on, you go behind the bike and from a distance you can see that the rear wheel is wobbles.
The bike is new.......
I've spoke with the other BMW guys and they said that there is something wrong with the Robots in the production line ... and Official dealers told me that if they cannot fix it they will change it.................... how is this possible ?
Anyone ? :spitfire

Are you running the engine in gear on the centre stand?

If you are it's not a valid test for anything due to all the transmission lash your going to get.

The fact my dear friend is that this is perceptible also from another biker driving right behind you

I couldn;t believe my ears that is why I did the test to see it myself......

Noticed the same on a certain "birthday boy's" 1200Adv a while ago......... and it isn't just the rim - it's the hub as well.

Expect your dealer to say: "They all do that, Sir" :blast

Al

exactly what they've told me but they offered to change it .
the thing is that the new one will have the same prob i'm afraid

the problem is still there. I found out that some time ago BMW decided to drop the spanish rims (ACCROYNT) which were adequetly robust and everlasting to go for something else. Aiming at cost cutting never resulted in anything good whatsoever.:nenau

Gday
Not an uncommon issue, mine was the same, but as I had done a few Ks till I picked up on the fact I had a bent wheel, my dealer promptly declared ''youve hit something'' which of course, I knew was bullshit, and would not replace it. Anyway the mechanic they had on deck could tune spokes and got it as true as any spoke wheel I've seen on a BM (they all seem out to me after taking a closer look at others)

28 for a top shelf bike and your wobbling up the road on bent rims, f....ing brilliant!!

I'd recommend spinning those wheels on pre delivery.............

Hi
I have a 041200gs and after a year the dealer noticed that the back wheel was out of true, they also stated that it would not be covered by warranty due to the fact that I could have damaged it myself. I sent the wheel to the Devon rim company who replcaced the spoke nipples with stainless ones, and trued the wheel. They stated that BMW wheels were normally quite good but mines was well out of spec, and that the welding where the rim joins was not up to their usual standard. They done a good job and I noticed a big differance when viewing the wheel turning.

I had the flange replaced on mine (part 13 on this fiche)

Yup..mine is booked in to have the flange replaced as well,
took it in to diagnose a front brake judder and not only do I get a new pair of discs, but a new flange as well...:aidan
impressed with the service of the dealer so far even if the Q-control of BM isn't that good !:augie

My Wheel rim moves about a slight amount as well, but TBH it's a spoked wheel and it's VERY straight compared to some of my Dirt bike wheels...:D

It would appear I am haaving two new wheels (17") fitted to my HP2 at the moment to go with the new forks....

Different reasons but it would appear BWM wheels on the 1200's are a tad iffy :blast
