just bought a bike that hasn't been serviced in a year, other than the 600 mile service. I am about to start a 70 mile a day commute, 1200 a month

should i get it serviced? or wait a couple of months until the 6000 mile service arrives?

cheers

service

I would change all liquids (engine, gerbox and bevel house oil) and filters. Particulary if the bike was not run frequently. Is not expensive and can save you a bit of possible grief.

I agree, mate.......who knows what sort of crud you've got in there. Probably best to change it if you don't know what it's been run on, and the stuff that's been in from (relatively) new will be full of running in swarf & crap.

The fuel filter BTW is a PITA so even if the bike sat with old fuel in it, I'd be tempted to leave it alone and see what happens. Syphon out all the fuel you can and replace with fresh and hope any water burns off with the first few tank fulls. The R series had a bit of a reputation in the early days for collapsed filters that stopped the engine, but the FI will burn anything between Vodka and bathroon cleaner if the air filter is clear.
