Looking at the pictures on here ..I like many were taken up with what looks like an impressive machine ..I have the 1150 adv and was not taken in by the standard 1200...sounds better better engine and so on but the looks did nothing for me.
The bike I had for 5 years before the 1150 was a 1200 LT and when i first saw it ..I did the had to have it thing....but the first bike had problems the roll of its side stand on any thing going slightly down hill.
The day I came in to the garage that had a slight fall to the door to find the bike in a big heap on the floor.
The radios that drained the battery so bright sunday mornings off we go key in the ignition and dead as a dodo.
Also poor screeching brakes.
All these problems were sorted out..but you some times get the feeling on new bikes that you the customer are the test bed for the first 12 months. I know inside the 1200 ADV is the standard 1200 but if I do change agian waiting say 12 months to sort out the er bugs is a wise thing to do...just a thought

Yes it is - inevitably problems which didnt appear in testing come to light when the bike is used by Joe Public. Even happens to Honda - like the sump on the latest Pan. And it certainly happens to BMW whose products are only average in quality terms but benefit from the German label. Bit like Merc cars these days.

The 1200Adv should be less problem than most because it is the 1200 with some minor changes. Which in my personal experience has been totally reliable but others claim different.

Is it worth a year of your life to have a few less minor niggles? And who cares a damn what the thing looks like? When covered with sh** and mud?
