hi All

I have now covered 1700 miles on the Triple Black and have started noticing that when engaging and disengaging the cltuch there is a definitive "clunk" :eek:from in the region of the shaft. A very slow release of the clutch can avoid this but a normal use of the clucth seems to always have the clunk. Second gear is the same but in 3/4/5/6 the wind noise makes it difficult to notice.

Is this normal?:augie

Thanks.

Johnboy

Otherwise - bloody marvellous:D

If you mean it clunks as you engage 1st at a standstill that does happen, if you mean it clunks as you pull away and again when when feeding the clutch out from 2nd I would say the problem as you described it its not normal, as its only a few weeks old your best to complain to the dealer in the first instance.

1200 gearboxes are a bit clunky on change, newer ones are a bit better apparently.

I know someone on here who had a new gearbox fitted to a new 1200 adv after just a couple of months ownership from new  under warrenty of course

Hi
Glad you are enjoying the bike, this clunk can happen to most of them, the loudness and jerkiness seems to be varied on a bike to bike basis. My 09 model does it and has done from pretty much day one (now done 17,000 miles!). I rode a 2011 demo, whilst mine was having warranty work done, and it was significantly smoother. If you have a concern take it back to the dealer and ask them to check it out, BMW pay for fixes, not them, so they dont normally have a vested interest in hiding problems from you.

Thanks - the clunk is probably the engagement of the shaft drive. I have spoken to Bahnstormer and will monitor and porbably drop down there at the weekend - good reason for a ride:bounce1
