Well spring finally arrived here in Chicago with temps in the lo 70°F's.
Still 68°F last night,I figured time for a little night ride to testout the 1200 headlight.
My thoughts..excellant! The 1200GS headlight did a superb job. :thumb
Definately a major improvement over earlier models, especially the "airhead models"!!!
Lighting of the roadway was very good to excellant, after a little adjustment.
I did adjust the "beam" kinda on the "high side" (I find myself looking very far down the road as I drive),but so far nobody has "flashed me back" in the return traffic lanes. I really see no need for any additional lighting. :clap

I agree that when conditions are good, the standard lights are OK, ie I've had worse, however when the weather conditions deteriorate the dip beam becomes poor with a big dark unlit patch just in front of the bike, floodlights fill this in nicely.

This is not just a fault of GS's its just that the bike is so good, that you ride it in all conditions long after the "weekend warriors" have tucked their bikes away

Shep :bounce1

Hmmm... R1200GS lights aren't that bad... but the best OEM lights I've ever used were the ones of the 2003 Yamaha R1. We were doing the National Rally and I was the 4th bike and flicked on the mains and the comment from the 1st guy was that it was like turning on daylight for him - whilst he was riding with his main beam on... :)

R1200GS... OK, but not very great :)

Yes I understand exactly...but with an adjustment, this "dark spot" is gone. You need to get on a dark road,no street lights, to make these adjustments.
