Hi All
I have just taken all the extras of my 1200gs for trading in . The only electrical stuff was a set of aux lights and a powercomander. Now as soon as i start her up it revs flat out . I have to be sharpish to turn it off ! Anyone got any ideas ? I have done a quick search on here but have drawn a blank .Cheers

shouldnt matter what you do with the fueling if there isn't enough air getting in the engine wont rev. Too much fuel and it will flood or idle really badly. Too little and it just wont start, none of them will lead to revving. Only an air leak or an open throttle will do that. Chances are when you removed the kit especially the PC you had the tank off and disturbed a throttle cable. It usually happens to either the left one or the main one all of which will also move the TPS so everything thinks you have opened the throttle. It happened to me a couple of year ago.

Thanks everyone
I did refit the power comander and it was still the same . I will check the throttle cables again tomorrow morning .

Sounds like the throttle cable.

Check were they go into the splitter box under the tank as it is very easy for the cables to get hooked out and rest on the casing.

Also check the routing of the cable from the handlebars to the splitter box as that can get caught under the tank causing the same issue.

I have had both happen over the last 8 years.....

Hi All
Thanks for the answers.Yes it was the throttle cable ! Howeve it was a bit of a saga as i re-routed the cable from the handlebar ok.The bike would start but only run on one cylinder!! Off with the tank again ,the cable housing going across to the other cylinder was not seated correctly .I clicked that back in and everything is spot on . Thanks again for all your help . there will be a load of 1200gs parts coming up for sale over the weekend .
Kind regards Roger
