Hello All,

Am taking collection of GSA in early July (can't wait) and as expected have spent many hours browsing through threads on various accessories etc, but when it comes to panniers there's one piece of info I can't dig out. Is there any luggage other than BMW that fits the OE pannier frames / rails, alu or other?
As I am taking delivery of a pre spec'd bike (otherwise the lead time here is months) I' like to check out the options before getting fleeced by ordering the beemer cases, though they look good and from the threads I've read seem to function well enough.
Any info appreciated.

Thanks
Jim

:thumb2 The BMW official panniers are made by Touratech So check to see if their panniers will fit. I seem to remember reading some slimline tor tec panniers would fit the OE Pannier rails? i use the BMW top box all the time and the Panniers when I have to move house!

The BM badged ones slide into position. The TT badged ones use a puck to hold them in position. I suspect you could grind the slidy bits off the BM rails and fit the TT ones but can't be certain.

You might get more joy by flogging the BM ones on ebay if you want to get rid of them. BTW I have the BM badged ones and so far so good, don't leak IME and the mane event inner bags fill the space well. Plus the locks are all keyed to the ignition.

The liners are made of aluminium and will cover anything that touches them in a black hard to claen off dust.

The only way the TT ones fit is if you remove the BMW mounting tabs from the frames. There have been a couple of posts on this - but I couldn't find them.

Thanks for the responses. Looks like the BMW Panniers are the way to go. I've checked out those Mane Event liners, I'll have them too.

The BMW panniers are excellent (and the topbox). I'm really beginning to appreciate them now I've just got back from camping with g/f and all her stuff managed to fit in the bike with room to spare!!

Pannier Liners

Mane Event looked a likely bet in lieu of pukka BeeEmm ones, but following another thread on here, I recently ordered these ones from USA.

http://cruiserbackrest.com/r1200gs-vario-case-liner-p-247.html

Showed up the other day. $89.95 + $40 P+P = 67 GBP.

Judicious (?) labelling by vendor meant I was NOT asked for any local tax on arrival. Which was nice.

As I ain't going "All Way Round" or "Long Way Down" I'm sure they'll be good enough for me.

My '07 GSA should arrive any day now.
I too,was searching for panniers that would fit the factory racks.

Here is what I found and ordered. Their is a 1 month wait for them (built to order).
So hopefully by June 15th,I'll have them installed and post photo's.

Jim, A slightly cheaper alternative to the top box is of course soft luggage. The BM tailpack from my K1200R fits nicely on the rack or pillion area of my 1200 GS

They look good. Would be interested to know how you get on with them. In the end I went back to the dealer today and ordered the BMW ones for €700. Not a million miles away from the cost of Happy trail or others by the time shipping is taken into account, especially as bringing in anything from outside the EU is hammered by import tax.

Thanks
Jim

Yes sir, will post some pictures and give my "humble opinion"!!!!

Beem'er Factory panniers.

I got the BMW panniers and bags for my 1200GSA. Very happy with them, yes expensive. But I was not ready to muck about they needed to be ready for me to ride away and use from the get-go. The lock in to the fames but sliding from front to the rear, and a lockable latch hold them on the fame.

I fitted the panniers frames (easy but but a toque driver set) and all that kit went on easy. One small stuff up. The fame kit did not have come with a complete LHS 'T' bracket set. I had to RHS inner bracket and they are different for each side. Seems this a common occurance. The store sent me the a 'checked' kit and all was ok.

BMW inner bags

Thanks for the responses. Looks like the BMW Panniers are the way to go. I've checked out those Mane Event liners, I'll have them too.

Jim

Reconsider - BMW 12GSA inner bags are 100% waterprooof and are like dry bags from Ortileb. They can be strapped to the top of both BMW side pannier cases with straps provided if you need to store extra loose luggage inside pannier cases. Mane event liners are not waterproof and are strictly for internal use! Therefore BMW inner bags offer more flexibility for luggage inside or outside whatever the weather!

Cheers :thumb
