Hi, is it possible to change the display from imperial to metric on the computer? My temperature read out is degrees F, can I change it to degrees C........of course I don't want to change everything metric - I want distance and speed to still be in mph!

As for fuel consumption I am guessing that the reading is for US gallons and not imperial gallons? (I live in the US)

Thanks for any help.

I work in Automotive desgin/manufacture, as the Germans would call this part a Kombi.......

Kombi's are supplied market specific I'm afraid (at least for us and the rest of the VW group), unless someone here can tell us about a software re-flash I think it's a case of changing the Kombi assembly over to a UK/European spec spec for what you want..... Or maybe switch to a Touratat IMO.

I'm guessing it is possible for a dealer to do it.
In Ireland the bikes seems to have the following setup
Distance: KM
Trip: KM
Fuel: MPG (instead of the Litres per 100km in the rest of Europe)
Temp: DegC

Fuel Consumption... Should be for US gallons, but they may not have bothered (Who's gonna notice the 20% difference!)

I can't see any other market wanting a mix of KM and MPG so this must be changed for the Irish market (Very small and not worth making a specific model for).

Thanks for your replies but I am sure there must be someway to make changes - anybody know if a dealer can do when they plug their computer into the bike? There seem to be all manner of 'cheats' talked about with the digital switching (- how to turn the lights off etc).

On another note I understand that the standard 12 volt outlet is rated at 5 amps but again have heard rumours that it can be incresed a little - again by the dealer plugging in. My electric vest seems to trip the supply when I turn the wick up a bit.

Thanks again!

I'm surprised you're having a problem, on my old GS it wouldn't let me use my electric pump :( (like your problem) the new one does :)

Also, it lets my charger charge the battery, without going through the ignition on etc etc

Hi John - are you telling me that you reckon I can plug my optimate charger into the outlet? I thought that wasn't possible on these new 1200s? It definately tripw with my electric vest turned up above 3/4. I have to turn off the ignition to reset. I know that if the motor isn't running I do not have power at the socket - I am very new to the 1200s.

you're right, you can't unless you have the 1200 specific bmw charger.

Result - in answer to my question about changing the units of measurement - Had a service today and I asked is it possible to change certain parameters with the BMW workshop scanner. Seems they can adjust just about anything! I now have distance, mpg and speed in miles but temperature in celcius.
