1200GSA pillion foot rest

So I reversed into the car park at work today and misjudged the alignment of the bike and forgot the pillion foot rests were sticking out

Snapped it clean off!

Managed to source a spare for a reasonable price on eBay, but it comes without the rubber.

The rubber of the old peg is fine, so can use that, but how do I get the bloody thing off?! Ive tried pushing and pulling and it goes so far but that is it. Ideas?

Try pouring lots of hot water over it to heat and soften it and spray a lubricant such as
WD40 between the rubber and metal to help it slip off.
