12ADV screen cracks

Noticed yesterday afternoon that my screen has got a small split from top n/s screw and then later in the day o/s screw screen has started to split
Anyone else heard of this. Sensible roadriding in the wet nothing mad
Screen has never been off or made contact with the ground
400miles run nothing untoward bike has 6k on it

I got a small hairline crack from one of the lower screws, basically same ridingconditions as yours so it is very strange. I also got cracks around the rear screws on both winglets. The bike is due for service this tuesday so i will listen with them if this is a known issue.

looked at a 1200gs adv at sawbridge several weeks ago. Both of the winglet thingys were cracked around the screws.

Cheers as bike is going in for 6k service soon I can say it is not just down to my bike

I was told not to over tighten the screen bolts as it would cause this effect.

Every single R1150GS Adv that I fitted Tobinators onto (must be over 50) had small hairline cracks (about 5-10mm long) around the screen's mounting holes. Generally, it never seemed to make much difference, but I did see one screen where the cracks had extended and were visible around the mounting hardware.

I reckon that the plastic that BMW use is suspect. I'm not at all surprised that the new Adv screen also has cracks in it. It seems to be related to flex at the mounting points if it's anything like the 1150. Bigger screen, more forces, more flexing, more stress at the weakest spots...

Take it back and insist on a new screen/winglets.
