12GS adv panniers and topbox on 12GS?

Is it possible? And is it worth it? The brackets on the normal 12GS imo does not look very secure.

I have not had any problems with my panniers. They can take a certain amount of jiggling to get seated correctly on the steel 'mushroom' and when taking them off.

But I would think the Adventure luggage would be more durable. One of my panniers was ripped off the bike during an 'altercation' with another vehicle in a petrol station, which destroyed the mount and the pannier would have been ok but one of the mounting lugs on the pannier was broken.
However, the frame of the bike was not damaged, so I figure thats a positve thing

I have just got the topbox for mine, so cant really comment on that just now.

Hope this helps.

I think you can fit the ADV luggage to the 1200GS but you will need the hardware to go with it, ADV pannier frames,ADV luggage rack to replace your original and there's a additional mount for the top box which attaches to the luggage rack, and then there's the panniers and top box :eek from a BMW dealer it won't be cheap but you may get lucky and find a used set on here or e-bay, good luck :thumb2

As Steve says above. The rack and pannier system will fit straight on with no problems, so long as you have all the necessary parts.

Panniers and frames can also be fitted with the original top box & rack still in place.

Personally I would recommend using/keeping the Vario top box as it is much more versatile and better looking. There are some on here who have made fittings to adapt it to fit the ADV rack.
