Just a quick question, (or two if you'll indulge me!):
My 12GS is hitting the 20 thousand kms mark (around 12k miles) and is due an annual inspection/BMW inspection.

Now the rider's manual suggests that the BMW service interval is:
after the first 10k kms, and every 20k kms after that (i.e. 30k kms, 50k kms etc.) if covered within a year.

So should the bike be going for:
Annual Inspection + BMW Inspection + BMW Service?

Also, will I need to remove the tank cover and SW-Motech engine bars?

Thanks for any guidance before I ring my local service team..

The BMW service schedule is based either on mileage completed or on having an annual service if the bike is not doiung enough miles per year. If you have done 12000 miles then all it should need is the 12k service. The Inspection is BMW terminology for the big 12000 miles/20000km service. The annual service schedule refers to when you have not done enough miles within a year to justify the normal service or inspection. It may need the brake fluid changing if the bike is 2 years old in addition to the inspection schedule. Just watch out for dealers who charge for both the annual and inspection. Most of the work in the inspection is listed in the annual service schedule, with brake and clutch fluid change being listed if needed.

No, it has 2 different service intervals one at 10,000km and the next one at 20,000km. This means first major service is 10,000 then 20,000 then 10,000 then 20,000 and so on. Not 10,000 then 20,000 then nothing for another 20,000.

Basically a service every 6000 miles
The 20,000 service has the same things as the 10,000 plus some extra's
