hello folks I think I have finaly sorted the wireing out on my rt ,alas all is not rosey ,the starter solenoid just clicks when I try the button, so I shorted the starter which wizzed around but did not engage the motor ,the starter is quite new and the battery is a good one fully charged .
the bike has not got the coils on at the moment this should not effect the starter motor should it ? having never owned a bmw before im not that clued up on the electrics on it
so is it starter motor off and strip or am i missing something very simple ? any help would be greatfully received
cheers Chris

ok so I have had a bit more of a look at my old loom and put a new starter relay on same thing it just clicks, however if i touch the brake light swith against the spade conector on the starter motor the bike turns over fine ,so is there a wire going too the spade on the starter motor ,on the haynes wire diagram it does not show anything ?
and never had the wires on the bike i have no clue at all .

also would a faulty clutch switch and or neutral switch stop the starter relay working ?

I have now bypassed the clutch and neutral switch with no joy any other ideas ?

Do you have a car? Jump it from that... maybe you have volts but not enough amps. I know its not a GS but I had exactly those symptoms on my mower:)
Have you checked the earth from battery to gearbox?

Thanks mate ,it was a broken wire in the loom the black wire from the starter relay too the starter motor was buggerd from the old old alarm bodge. Up ,hopefully the lights will work and we will be in business
