I have a double I don't need(only realised when cataloguing)
19th century French Chassepot Yataghan, dated 1868 on the spine.Blade is in good condition and the scabbard has light pitting.I never touch the bayonets i have, just oil or wax,as I feel cleaning it to a sparkly finish takes the history away.
Overall a very nice bayonet.

£130 posted/tracked.

As I was reading the interesting info on the item I came up with a price of £500 in my head so it looks like a bargain to me. 🙂

Can’t help wondering if it has dispatched many.

They're French, made for opening baguettes 😉
They certainly opened up something, not sure it was bread mind.

This bayonet isn't in the £500 bracket but I priced it for what i payed for it.Ido have several bayonets that are north of £500.That pails into insignificance as some bayonets go into the thousands.
