2000 Road King

The Harley fuel injection system is made by Magneti-Marelli I don't think its a bad system (same as Guzzi, Ducati and the others) but when the rest of the engine is so simple (single carb, self adjusting tappets etc) I thinks it's easier to not bother with fuel pumps, fuel mapping, filters and all the other shit and shebang that goes with it.

Talking to my Indie about the merits of early Fi (Magneti-Marelli) on Harleys... he states “it’s a simple system that works well... but, it will be between 8 and 14 years old... fuel lines are in excess of £120 each and the ECU is over £800.... Your Carb was £32 on ebay!! And it runs like a dream... if you want early FI be prepared for some big bills, not due to a poor system, just Age"... How about stripping it all out and changing to a carb?? i ask.... "Do-able he says, but not cheap as the loom needs a lot of work!.."

So, I’m with Rob here.... 1340 Evo c/w Carb = cheapest/purest option...

We now have the "Purple Throbber" ready for a quick fettle and MOT. If Roger dies....first dibs on his other toys.....photos to follow....:bow
