Have just fitted a bbpower chip, Remus revolution & Y piece to my 2003 GS twin spark. Have set the chip to stage 2, removed the Lambda sensor as per instructions. Noticeable improvement…pulls like a train, but now pinks very badly when using ¾ to full throttle. If throttle rolled on gently, there is no problem, but ‘harsh’ acceleration sounds terminal ! Has anyone out there got this set up on a 2003 model…Have searched the threads, but am no wiser. Cheers. … Dave H:confused:

re: Lambda removal

I am the owner of a BBP chip. My instructions did not specify removal of the Lambda sensor, but I had seen several references to this and the use of the BBP chip.
I emailed BBPower and a few days later received an email from Bernard B (the BB) and was told that he had, for a brief time, suggested removing the Lambda, but has since realized this is not correct and now suggests that it should remain in place.
As to your question, I have have a BBP w/ Y pipe and stock can, and run stage 2 as well. When warm, I often get pinking when under a load and accelerating. If I select a lower gear and accelerate, I usually don't notice it. I alway use the best gas I can (92 octane US).

Thanks...the advice regarding removal of the sensor came from Motorworks EFI guru who said that with the sensor in, the Motronic would overide the fuel map in the chip making the fitting of it pretty pointless. (seemed logical to me at the time) I have since altered the jumper settings and am running stage 3 ....no pinking at all, slight loss of bottom end, but more top end....overall quite pleased.
Anyone else out there got a view on the sensor....the guy at Motorworks reckoned that its' job is to make the bike run as lean as possible to conform to emission regs and that from my first post, re-fitting it would only serve to make the bike run even weaker. I would have thought that it ensured a 'constant' fuel/air ratio so that if it was running weak, the sensor would actually richen things up a bit.....am I missing the point ??
